Ross Lake

Role

Ross abandoned urban academia and the law around 1980 to join his father in business.

He began working in his father’s fuel retail and wholesale distribution business in Mildura in 1981. He is now Managing Director of that business and is currently responsibility for two hundred and sixty staff  across the Murray Darling Basin.

The business operates over a large geographic area that is spread from north of Broken Hill to Kyneton in southern Victoria and all along the Murray Valley to Tumut and many places in between.

Ross is the eldest of four children and has spent nearly all of his life in the Sunraysia region, however he was born upstream in Albury (NSW) His dedication and commitment to the local community is evident in his participation on many boards and his involvement in local social support organisations.

Currently he is the President of Mallee Family Care. Ross is a graduate of Monash University with a Bachelor of Economics, a Diploma of Education and a Bachelor of Law degree.

Ross’s other commercial interests (now sold) had included two hundred acres of vineyards in the Cardross area outside of Mildura.

He permanently fostered three children with his former partner, who did most of the parenting, they are now aged 33, 31 and 26 respectively.

Also, with his current partner, Helen he has two step children aged 30 and 28.

He currently encourages and occasionally assists in a small National Park highlighting flora species endemic to this region being developed by Helen on redundant irrigation properties in the Sunraysia area Outside of work and extended family his interests are Art History, Local History, Music, Gardening and the St Kilda Football Club.
