What is a breast screen?

A breast screen, also known as a mammogram, is a low-dose x-ray (image) of the breast that checks for breast cancer.

Breast screens can find cancers that are too small to feel. The sooner the cancer is found, the more successful treatment is likely to be.

Breast Screening will be available on our brand new state of the art mobile screening clinic from July 2026.

Rural Imaging Australia

After more than three years of planning and 12 months of construction, Rural Imaging Australia is proud to announce the launch of our new state-of-the-art mobile screening clinic this April. A $3.5 million initiative driven and funded by the Mildura Base Public Hospital Foundation.

This purpose-built mobile clinic has been designed to deliver advanced skin, breast, and cardiac screening services directly to rural and remote communities. For many regional Australians, accessing specialist screening can require up to 12 hours of travel. This clinic changes that, bringing life-saving preventative healthcare closer to home, where it is needed most.

Help drive regional health

While the truck is ready to roll, ongoing operational costs remain. To ensure this vital service continues reaching communities year after year, Rural Imaging Australia and the Mildura Base Public Hospital Foundation are seeking further donations and sponsorship partnerships. Every contribution helps deliver life-saving screening services, raise awareness about early detection, and create healthier futures for regional Australians.

Together, Rural Imaging Australia and the Mildura Base Public Hospital Foundation are building a happier, healthier community.
