Episode 19
A conversation with Brendan Cullen
Welcome to the Heartbeat of the Mallee podcast, which is proudly brought to you by TASCO Inland Petroleum.
Today, host John Dooley is speaking with Broken Hill Sheep Station manager Brendan Cullen, whose battle with depression and his self-acknowledgment to take the first steps to seek help, led him to begin sharing his story with others. Brendan would go onto to become a Lifeline Regional South Australia & Far West New South Wales Ambassador in 2017 and a peer-support mental health champion for rural people through the ‘We’ve Got Ya Back’ initiative.
Brendan launched his book, The Desert Swimmer, in early March this year and as you will hear, he has swum the English Channel and undertaken many other extraordinary feats, all in the name of mental health advocacy.
