In this episode, host John Dooley is speaking with Consultant Pharmacist Brooke Shelly who practices in Mildura at Ontario Medical Clinic.
Brooke is one of a growing number of pharmacists across the country working in General Practice as a GP Pharmacist.
Brooke is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at La Trobe Rural Health School and regularly presents at pharmacy and rural health conferences.
In 2024, she was named Australian Consultant Pharmacist of the Year for her advocacy in advancing pharmacist scope within multidisciplinary teams and improving outcomes for rural Australians.
Brooke is passionate about educating the next generation of GPs on the value of interprofessional collaboration and integrating allied health into primary care and trains GP registrars, nurses, and medical students and oversees the PIP QI program. The Practice Incentives Program, Quality Improvement Incentive which designed to support general practices in delivering optimal care and improving health outcomes.

The Mildura Base Public Hospital Foundation is excited to be launching this podcast series that will build on the success of the Foundation’s Heartbeat magazine, which has just published its eighth edition.
Together, the magazine and the podcast, will further the community engagement the magazine has established.
Building on the success also of the Frames of History project in Mildura, local history will also be a topic featured.
Importantly, the podcast will provide an opportunity for key organisations in Mildura and the region to showcase what they do and how they contribute to the community.
The podcast will have a variety of guests from all sectors of the community – the arts, agriculture, business, hospitality, education, industry, local government, members of parliament, emergency services and sports.
