There was no mistaking the buzz around Mildura when Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United hit the pitch for the A-League Festival of Sport. The stands were full, the energy was high, and the community turned out in force, not just for the football, but for a cause close to home.
The Festival brought together sport, spirit and purpose in a way that truly reflected what makes our region special. For many, it wasn’t only about watching elite footballers in action; it was about being part of something that makes a real difference for local health.
“This year’s event exceeded all expectations,” said Mark Thornton, Principal of One Agency Mildura and proud event sponsor. “Our support for the Foundation is something our whole team is very proud of.”
What began as an idea in 2024 through a partnership between the MBPH Foundation, Adelaide United and One Agency Mildura has quickly grown into one of Mildura’s most exciting annual events. With Melbourne Victory joining the lineup this year, the atmosphere reached new heights. One Adelaide United supporter, who travelled especially for the event, summed it up perfectly: “A fantastic day and a great initiative with real economic benefit to Mildura.”
Beyond the cheers and the goals, the day carried an important purpose, raising awareness and funds for the MBPH Foundation’s Mobile Skin Screening Vehicle. Throughout the event, messages from the MC reminded the crowd how their support helps bring vital health projects to life. The result was awareness that spread far and wide, and funds that exceeded expectations.
The Screening Vehicle will be a game changer for rural and remote communities across the tri-state region, bringing skin, breast and cardiac screening services directly to those who need them most.
Community and corporate support remain at the heart of everything the Foundation does. Every ticket purchased, every partnership and every show of generosity helps improve healthcare for the people of Mildura and the Northern Mallee.
With plans already in place for the Festival to continue for at least another three years, the event has well and truly earned its place on Mildura’s calendar. Meanwhile, construction of the Mobile Skin Screening Vehicle is underway, with an exciting launch expected in early 2026.
The A-League Festival of Sport once again proved what’s possible when sport and community come together for a cause that matters. Simply the best, indeed.
